2013 - present: Identification of bacterial pathogens in samples from skeletal remains of Badia Pozzeveri excavation (XII-XIX centuries) in collaboration with Hendrik N. Poinar, director of MacMaster Ancient DNA Centre, Department of Anthropology, MacMaster University, Ontario, Canada.2011-present: Bioarchaeological study of human skeletal remains from Badia Pozzeveri excavation (XII-XIX centuries) in collaboration with Clark Spencer Larsen (Director of  Department of Ohio State University and Distinguished Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Chair).2008-2010: “History of pathologies: medical, ethical, juridical and cultural aspects” (PRIN 2008, as component of the research unit directed by Luciana Rita Angeletti).

2005-2006 : Exploration of Sicilian funerary crypts (XVII-XIX centuries) with survey of mummified human remains and structures for the mummification practice (managed by Paleopathology Division of Pisa University and Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa).

2005 - 2006 : the “Medici Project”. Study of the Medici Burials in the Basilica of S. Lorenzo in Florence (XVI-XVIII centuries): a programme of Funerary Archaeology and Paleopathology (PRIN 2005, as component of the research unit directed by Prof. G. Fornaciari).
